Knights coach Nathan Brown has today ruled Kalyn Ponga out of
Friday night’s clash with South Sydney following a big game for the young Queensland
fullback who clocked up 9km according to the Telstra Tracker. A final call is yet
to be made on Blues leading forward David Klemmer, however his physical,
high-impact 51 minutes-straight performance suggests he will be rested too.
On the other side of this clash, South Sydney coach Wayne
Bennett has rested Cody Walker following his Origin Debut for the Blues, whilst
Damien Cook, Cameron Murray and Origin hero Dane Gagai are all set to back up.
Souths will also be missing halfback Adam Reynolds as he is ruled out
indefinitely with back fractures.
Meanwhile, Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart will have to decide
on the fate of Nick Cotric following a knee injury during his Blues Debut. He
reported that the knee was stable and Blues medical staff said there were no
structural issues and Stuart said if he was passed fit by team medical staff he’d
play him. Stuart expects that his other Blues debutant, Jack WIghton, will back
up alongside Maroons enforcer Josh Papali’i.
Melbourne Storm players Cameron Munster, Josh Addo-Carr,
Will Chambers and Felise Kaufusi have all departed Brisbane, heading straight
for Auckland ahead of their clash against the Warriors and are all expected to
play.
No other clubs have yet announced any changes to their named
squads.
